Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Robert Brown slammed the Public Safety Minister for refusing to answer questions about how the Scottish Government was going to resolve the overcrowding crisis in Scottish prisons.
Commenting after a meeting of the Scottish Parliament's Justice Committee, Mr Brown said:
"No stone was left unturned and no cliché was left unused as the Minister wriggled and squirmed under MSPs' questioning.
"Despite the Minister's protestations, the Scottish Government has actually done next to nothing to solve the crisis in our prisons since the previous administration left power.
"The SNP must face up to its responsibilities as the Government and spend more time sorting out prison overcrowding rather than trying to dodge responsibility for the current situation."
