Speaking ahead of tomorrow's meeting of the Environment and Rural Affairs Committee at which evidence will be taken on Stage One of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Bill, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Liam McArthur said:
"Local authorities are desperately worried that they will not be able to meet the costs of the new Bill.
"I want to know why the Cabinet Secretary showed such complacency over this issue only a few weeks ago, when he was adamant that the money for councils was sufficient.
"The Government must now stop burying its head in the sand and instead listen to what councils are telling them."
