Unions should back Lib Dem campaign to save banking jobs

Reacting to the news that Lloyds' shareholders have backed the proposed takeover of HBOS, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:

"I am not surprised that Lloyds' shareholders have backed the takeover, which their chairman described as the 'deal of the century'.

"Lloyds TSB staff jobs are on the line too. It is unfortunate that this did not trouble the shareholders.

"The unions now have three weeks to get on the side of those who are campaigning to keep HBOS as independent and save their members' jobs."
