Commenting after a Ministerial Statement on the HMIE Report into Child Protection Services in Aberdeen, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith said:
"I welcome the Education Secretary's announcement that the Government will support Liberal Democrat calls for a comprehensive review of child protection services in Scotland.
"It is vital that greater emphasis is placed on early intervention to identify possible children at risk before any harm is done. Ministers must ensure that any steps taken to address this issue are child focused rather than parent focused.
"Liberal Democrats also want to ensure that every child on the Child Protection Register has access to a dedicated social worker. The issue of child protection must not be allowed to drop off the radar. We will make sure that it is kept under continuous review by the Government."
