Liberal Democrat Culture spokesperson and MSP for North East Fife, Iain Smith has demanded a fair deal for all television licence payers.
Speaking in a debate in the Scottish Parliament about broadcasting, Mr Smith pointed out that some licence payers would not receive the full range of digital programmes due receiving their television through a relay transmitter.
Commenting, Mr Smith said:
"All licence payers must get a fair deal after the digital switchover. It is unacceptable that those who, through an accident of geography, receive television through relay transmitters will not receive the full range of digital and freeview programmes.
"All licence payers are contributing to the cost of the digital switchover and they should all be able to receive the same level of service.
"Licence payers in places like Cupar or Strathmiglo in my constituency will be denied access to the full range of programmes including HD broadcasting, simply because of where they live."
