CCS PROJECT AT PETERHEAD IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY: LOCAL MP

Speaking after the debate in Parliament on Carbon Capture and Storage in Scotland, Sir Robert Smith, Liberal Democrat MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine said:

"Peterhead stands out because it is unique - it is the only gas-fired proposal in the UK and it has the potential to place the UK as a world leader in the industry. Given the role gas can play in meeting our electricity needs it is important that the Government does all it can to encourage the project."
