About Aberdeenshire West Liberal Democrats
Who Are We?
Aberdeenshire West Liberal Democrats are what the Lib Dems call a Local Party. The first boundary changes since the creation of the Scottish Parliament in 1999 are set to come into effect for the elections in May.
Parts of what was known as West Aberdeenshire & Kincardine (WAK) and Gordon constituencies have been merged to create Aberdeenshire West. Park of WAK joins Aberdeen South and the rest joins North Angus and the Mearns.
From 1st January 2011 West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine Liberal Democrats became Aberdeenshire West Liberal Democrats. This will cover the new Scottish Parliament constituency of the same name.

MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine: Sir Robert Smith
Sir Robert Smith has been MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine since 1997 and at the 2010 general election was elected for a further term.
Robert's most recent positions have been Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and a member of the Energy and Climate Change Committee as well as the Procedures Committee. He was shadow energy spokesperson 2005-06.
Robert has served on the Trade and Industry Committee, the Scottish Affairs Committee and the International Development Select Committee. He is Joint Vice-chair of the UK Offshore Oil and Gas Industry Group.
MSP for North East Scotland: Alison McInnes
Alison was elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2007 as a regional MSP for the North East of Scotland, including West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine.
MEP for Scotland: George Lyon
George Lyon is the Liberal Democrat MEP for Scotland.
In the European elections of 2009 the Liberal Democrats gained an extra MEP in the UK (and more or less maintained our vote share).

Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford Ward
