Mike Rumbles MSP and Cllr Tom Fleming at the A90 junction, Laurencekirk
Liberal Democrat MSP for West Aberdeenshire & Kincardine Mike Rumbles has vowed to continue to support the campaign led by community campaigners, for a full flyover to be built on the A90 at Laurencekirk.
Mike said "This is a notorious accident blackspot and sadly we had another fatal accident in recent months.
"The 50mph speed limit that was put in place was only ever intended as a temporary measure. The only permanent solution is a full flyover, but the SNP Transport Minister has continually refused to take action here.
"Figures released by Grampian Police show how that the average cost of dealing with a fatal road accident is £1,979,078. The cost of a flyover would be £4 million. Given the number of serious and fatal accidents we have had at this location it is clear that building a flyover is a 'nobrainer'
"I will continue to press the SNP government to provide the funding for a flyover at this extremely dangerous junction."

Sir Robert Smith has welcomed the news that passenger numbers at the reopened Laurencekirk Railway Station have exceeded estimates by a massive 80%.
Robert has campaigned for the reopening of the station with MSP Mike Rumbles and local councillors Tom Fleming and Bill Howatson since his election as our MP in 1997.
After a long community campaign the station got the go-ahead from Liberal Democrat Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen and was reopened last year.
Robert Smith said: "After a long campaign by the local community it is fantastic that the station at Laurencekirk is even more successful than anticipated.
"This is a real success story and shows what can be achieved. I will continue to work with colleagues at Council and Scottish Parliament level to campaign for further investment in our local infrastructure."
